Stone’s Throw CSA is happy to announce these upcoming workshops, offered by CSA members, growers or steering committee members. All proceeds will go to the Stone Soup Fund. If you are interested in a workshop, please register as soon as possible to ensure that the workshop will have enough participants to run. Goat Cheese Making

Tuesday August 3 at 6:30pm

Learn how to make a delicious, spreadable goat cheese. This is a simple process you can do in your own kitchen with minimal equipment and works with cow’s milk also. Class will run 1-1.5 hours.

Weed Walk

Saturday August 28 at 3pm

We invite you to come and join us on a walk around the farm to learn to identify nutritious and medicinal common plants a.k.a. weeds, that grow all around us. The walk will take approximately 1 hour. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring a bottle of water.

Food Dehydration

Saturday September 11 at 3pm

Come and join our own farmer Martha to learn how to preserve our beautiful Stone’s Throw vegetables by dehydrating. Meet in the barn at 3pm.

What We Eat: A Diet and Health Workshop

Saturday September 18 at 3-5pm

Nutritional deficiencies can cause a variety of symptoms, from trouble with memory to difficulty to walking and fatigue. This work shop will cover some common nutritional deficiencies and what foods are best to supply these vital vitamins and minerals. We will also cover diet strategies for good cardiovascular health, especially moderating foods that are high in cholesterol and low in nutritional value. Common myths about foods for cardiovascular health will be addressed, and there will be ample time to question and answer.

Brewing Your Own Beer

Saturday – October 2nd 1pm – 5pm

We will spend about 5 hours on Saturday learning how to brew beer. We will talk about how to make mead and taste a sample of home made mead.

Cost: $10 for CSA members; $20 if you are a guest. This will cover the cost of materials; any surplus will go to the Stone Soup Fund.
