Kohlrabi

 

Kohlrabi 002This strangepurple and green object is not a ship from outer space but a delightful veggie called kohlrabi. To prepare it, cut off all the strange appendages and peel it. The inner flesh is white-ish.

You can eat it raw in salads or cook it in a variety of manners. Personally, I dice it then saute it with butter and garlic. If you want to be more adventurous, try some of the recipes listed in the Simply Recipe blog: http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/kohlrabi/.
